I’m Thomas W. Richards, founder and owner of Richards Stone Engraving. I grew up in South Portland, Maine, where I developed a deep appreciation for hard work and craftsmanship at a young age. I’ve always had an eye for detail and a passion for creating things that last. My early career began in woodworking and remodeling, where I learned the value of precision and pride in every cut, corner, and finish.
Life eventually led me into the monument industry, where I spent seven years learning every aspect of the business. From design to production to engraving on all types of stone, I gained hands-on experience and a true respect for the meaning behind each piece. I saw firsthand how important this work is to families and communities — and that understanding has never left me.
With the support of my wife, Abigail, we decided to take a leap of faith and build something of our own — not just a business, but a family legacy. Richards Stone Engraving was founded on the idea that every stone tells a story, and every family deserves work done with care and heart.
